The 4th Edition of Word Up,
the biggest spoken word poetry event in Nigeria held on Saturday 18th
May 2013 at Terra Kulture , Victoria Island, Lagos. The organizers i2xMedia promised an exciting event and that it was.
Guests were treated to an evening of poetry at its finest, as some of the best spoken word poets in the country came to “kiss words and make them dance” alongside internationally acclaimed American guest poet, Shihan Van Clief. The event also featured interludes of soul music from Ajibola & Lumynous and the country’s best poets; Efe Paul Azino, Atilola Moronfolu, Dolapo Ogunwale, Jeffrey Jaiyeola (Plumbline), Ivori, Enigmatic Olumide, Torpedo Mascaw, Olumide Holloway (Olulu) among others.
Hosted by Don Fabrino and Duvy,
the show had 2 sessions of an inspiring 50 minute performance from
Shihan and he rounded up each session to a rousing ovation leaving the
audience yearning for more. Another highlight of the evening was an
introduction of ‘War of Words‘, a mini slam poetry competition,
that was coordinated on stage and Shihan got to pick a winning poet
(K-MEX) out of 4 aspiring poets. To find out more or enter for the ‘War
