“Justice is Blind, Standing My Ground”

“Justice Is Blind

My killer walks free as my blood screams out on the vibrant green grass
“Justice Is Blind
Justice Wasn’t Meant for Me”
My killer walks free as the world watch with closed eyes
The media feeds on my death like it’s up for debate
“Standing your Ground” cost me my life
And my killer walks free

You say we pull the race card like the government screams broke
Headlines states the gun shot to my heart wasn’t about race just a Hispanic man “Standing his Ground”

My question to you is why he felt a need to “Stand his Ground”
Could it be society instilled within him the fear of a young black teen?
He assumed I was a threat simply because of the color of my skin
And let’s not forget I was wearing a hoodie in the pouring rain
Which made me a triple threat
To him deadly
But I though hoodies was a trend
All my white friends rock them
It’s rooted deep into America’s history
My question to you is why he felt a need to “Stand his Ground”
Could it be because racial profiling is an art rooted deeply within the core of Beautiful America?

I am no thief
Why didn’t he see I was no threat just a young teen walking home?

He had to have known I was just a teen I did nothing wrong
He had to have known I was his neighbor
Or didn’t he care?
I lived within the same neighborhood he was supposed to be the Chief Neighborhood Watch
But the Chief Neighborhood Watch
Watched me in fear
The fear of my kind was taught to him as a child
It was beaten into his brain
Ingrained into his being
So he chased me down

Now I too fear
But this I fear isn’t based upon skin color
But a man pursuing me with the intention to attack
Me, Trayvon Martin
He who was forced to stand trial for his own murder
He whom without any indication other than being a black teen wearing a hoodie walking home was labeled as a thug
He the one you said could have prevent his attacker from killing him in cold blood if only I didn’t look so suspicious
Young, black, male walking home with a hoodie
Guilty

Only Thugs wear black skin, hoodies and jeans...right?
Only Thugs walk home at night in the pouring rain…right?
Only Thugs try to dodge their stalker when they are hunted down like a lion chasing a calf…right?
But even a calf can’t out run a lion
And like a calf you cornered me in
pinned me down

I screamed out to my fellow neighbors to rush to my aid
But they too feared me
My screams were in vain
An unarmed teen equipped with ice tea and a bag of skittles
I am no thief

Don’t shoot I protested
You drew your 9mm gun to my heart
You pulled the trigger
Pleading for my life
As you shot close range
The bullet penetrated through my ribcage causing my heart to rupture
My heart bleeds out onto the vibrant wet green grass
70yards from my home

You watched
You waited
For my death
Now my death rest in your hands
My blood lingers into the air
As you my killer walks free
Justice is blind
My killer walks free
Justice is blind
It denied me the chance to “Stand My Ground”
Justice is Blind

It allowed our killers to “Stand their Ground”
In the name of covering the ground with our innocent blood
Justice wasn’t made for our kind
Our killers walk free as our blood screams out on the vibrant green grass
“Justice is blind”

Violence on one man in the name of another person’s death does not eradicate the person’s death nor does it bring about justice. Only peaceful unity from every nationality can bring about true justice putting to rest hate, racism, violence and a need for justice.
